Autonomous Vehicle are Here to Stay
I am getting very interested in autonomous vehicles and how it all works. It will be so much safer if we do get to that fully automated stage. It seems that currently 94% of accidents are cosued by human error and another few million can not drive because of poor eyesight and what about the senior citizens. The freedom to mobility should be right and this will bring it to all ( if it is affordable.)
It should be expensive at the start, but insurance claims will drop drammaticlaly and that is on big cost of owning a car. That starts the second big question will we need to own a car?. Will they be a shared resource arrving at your d oor like uber but without the driver? Will groups be formed so you can choose from a selection of different size vehicles.
It is coming, but in in the interim we are being rewared by increased road safety with ambient intelligenece jumping in when the driver is about to do somthing silly or likley to lead to an accident. A simple example is the lane detection altering the driver if they start to drift out of lane. Automatic brake application to avoid crashing.
How Does it Work
Thee key excuse the pun has been the advent of CNN convolution neural networks that enable computers to do image recognition at the same level and in some cases better than humans can. The neural network works similar to the brain and synapses
